How to obtain the Made in Italy mark for your products

The prestigious “Made in Italy” brand requires a certain effort to be obtained, i.e. only by respecting specific criteria. For example, certain processing phases must take place exclusively in Italian territory. This for example, pursuant to Law no. 55 of 2010, which regulates Made in Italy for textile, leather goods and footwear products.

The conditions for obtaining the origin mark must also refer to European legislation as well as national legislation.

Various checks must be carried out by the Institute on the existence of the requirements, to obtain the specific certification which will last 10 years; the manufacturing company will then be able to register in the National Register of Italian Producers.

The distinctiveness of Made in Italy has allowed several Italian companies to maintain their market share, stemming the advance of competitors, especially in certain areas. However, the brand has also been subject to counterfeiting: this has seriously jeopardized the reputation and economic benefits of true "Made in Italy" products. Therefore, protecting the integrity of the brand is crucial.

The authenticity of the "Made in Italy" brand is consequently strictly protected by Italian law, which guarantees the prevention of counterfeiting, so as to be able to effectively protect this precious recognition.

In an increasingly globalized world, thanks above all to digitalisation, a further effort will be required from all those companies that intend to affirm their "Made in Italy" quality (especially in cases where they intend to penetrate new markets) with the aim of increasing their sales and therefore their economic returns.

Octagona, always alongside Italian companies, can help your company expand significantly beyond national borders, as it did with many other manufacturers who managed to achieve concrete and rapid success.
