Octagona for the Lucanian agri-food sector: the Lucanica 2.0 project is underway

Octagona proposes an important initiative: “Lucanica 2.0”. A project to help businesses in the Tempa Rossa area: this is what Total, a well-known French company in the oil sector, has thought up in collaboration with Octagona to promote Made in Basilicata agri-food.

In detail, the project aims to support companies operating in the area affected by the Tempa Rossa ad export the typical products of Basilicata. The initiative is also having great media coverage: Rai News he also dedicated an article to us.

The initiative is open to a maximum of 20 companies, which will be selected by Octagona experts. The most promising sectors have already been identified and are presented below.

Cured meat

Let's first look at the export of Italian cured meats to Europe in the last 5 years. The total value of exports amounts to 2.2 billion euros, with a increase of +31.57% between 2016 and 2020.

The prospects for companies operating in the dairy sector are also interesting. In fact, according to Eurostat data, exports from Italy to Europe were worth a total of 11.2 billion euros between 2016 and 2020, with a increase of +33.77% and an average annual value of 2.3 billion euros.

Finally, the third sector identified by Total and Octagona is that of wines, grown for the +11,38% between 2016 and 2020, with a total value of 18 billion euros.

Again, the main signals come from Germany, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and Sweden.
