The latest SACE report clearly indicates how the recovery of Italy passes through exports, the main engine of our economy. Let's see the main numbers of the latest SACE report, presented at the beginning of the week:
+11,3%: expected rebound of Italian exports in 2021, against -9.7% in 2020;
482 billion euros: value of Italian exports in 2021, against 434 billion in 2020;
+5,4%: export growth rate for 2022;
+4,0%: expected growth rate for Italian exports after 2022, against the pre-crisis average +3.1% recorded between 2012 and 2019
These numbers demonstrate how companies must believe in the possibility of increasing their turnover, exploring new markets and creating new profits: most of the companies that invest in exports in 2021 will obtain favorable returns. Foreign countries are extremely receptive in this historic moment and, as seen from the numbers, the thrust of Italian exports will begin to slow down from next year.
What will be the fastest growing sectors? As can be seen from the image below, capital goods will dominate, at least for 2021. Mechanical engineering expects a rebound of +12.9%, while electrical appliances of +11.0%.
Very positive signals also come from the textile and clothing sector (+13.0%), while wood products will see sustained growth both for 2021 (+11.0%) and for 2022 (+7.1%).
