The export shares of Made in Italy to Türkiye are increasing. In fact, the data relating to trade flows between Italy and Türkiye are excellent. According to what was reported by the Italian Ambassador to Ankara, Gianpaolo Scarante, during a meeting in Istanbul with Italian entrepreneurs, our exports stood at around 13.4 billion dollars, i.e. the same figure recorded in 2011, in which the total value of import-export with Turkey had reached its highest levels, reaching 21.3 billion dollars.
The number of our companies operating in Turkey is also growing, currently 975, as is our Foreign Direct Investment, which has experienced an increase of 50%.
Overall, our trade with Turkey stood at around 19.7 billion USD; worth highlighting is the drop in imports, which recorded a value of 6.3 billion USD.
These data demonstrate how our presence in Turkey remains of significant importance, since Italy is the sixth commercial partner globally. This is the ranking of the top five: Germany (34.5 billion USD of trade), Russia (33.3 billion USD), China (24.1 billion USD), Iran (21.8 billion USD) and the United States (19.7 billion USD).
These numbers continue to demonstrate something very important for the businesses of our beautiful country. Turkey increasingly appreciates Made in Italy products, and now more than ever we can say that Italian companies must exploit this trend to increase their profits and their turnover not only on the national market, but also on the international market and in a high-growth country like Turkey. Not only that: exporting or in any case establishing a presence abroad also brings a decent competitive advantage to your company.
