{"id":1082,"date":"2014-07-17T13:37:17","date_gmt":"2014-07-17T12:37:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/octagona.wordpress.com\/?p=950"},"modified":"2025-05-29T16:10:35","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T16:10:35","slug":"ministry-of-foreign-affairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/octagona.com\/en\/ministero-affari-esteri\/","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Foreign Affairs: new provision for the internationalization of Italian companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to promote the overseas expansion activities of Italian companies, has recently reinstated the industrial sector within the scope of the benefits provided by Law No. 49\/87 - Art. 7. Specifically, this is a regulation that provides preferential financing to support Italian companies intending to make capital contributions to joint ventures (defined as \u201cmixed companies\u201d) located in certain developing countries.<b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Such contributions must be finalized:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>upon the establishment of new mixed companies;<\/li>\n<li>to capital increases in mixed companies where Italian companies already have stakes in the aforementioned countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may provide financing of up to 70% of the capital contribution to be made by the Italian company, up to a maximum of \u20ac10,000,000. It is possible to request an advance payment of up to 70% of the approved financing, subject to the provision of guarantees in the form of bank sureties: the interest rate is fixed and equal to 15% of the reference rate established by the Ministry of Economy and Finance for transactions pursuant to Presidential Decree 902\/1976 in effect on the date the loan agreement is signed with the Managing Entity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Italian company requesting financing must have been active for at least three years in the sector in which the joint venture will operate, which must in turn fall within one of the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>industry, agriculture, livestock breeding, fishing, and activities for the processing of their products;<\/li>\n<li>craftsmanship;<\/li>\n<li>local public services in the energy, communications, water, transport, and waste sectors;<\/li>\n<li>microfinance, microentrepreneurship services, local trade, fair trade, sustainable tourism;<\/li>\n<li>Protection and enhancement of cultural and environmental heritage;<\/li>\n<li>Provision of public utility medical services and production of medicines;<\/li>\n<li>vocational training and education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The investment project must provide for:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>a local partner holding at least 25% of the joint venture\u2019s capital;<\/li>\n<li>a substantial upturn in employment and added value for the country in which the investment is to be made;<\/li>\n<li>The investment must not lead to the relocation of the Italian company and therefore to a reduction of its production structure in Italy;<\/li>\n<li>The financing request must be submitted after the establishment of the joint venture and before the capital contribution of the Italian company to the joint venture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among the various countries where investment is possible are: Albania, Angola, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kosovo, Laos, Libya, Morocco, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Nepal, Peru, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Companies in the above-mentioned sectors that are interested in this initiative and need more information and insights on the matter can request a meeting with our consultants by contacting us via e-mail at the following address: <a href=\"mailto:octagona@octagona.com\">octagona@octagona.com<\/a> or to our phone number: 059.9770184.
