The purpose of BIS certification is to. ensure That products imported into India comply with the quality and safety standards established by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national certification body in India, established in 1986 under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
It is a certificate required for the’import of various product categories, as it certifies compliance with Indian quality and safety standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards. It is required by every manufacturer (Indian or foreign) of those who produce products with Mandatory Certification.
