Agribusiness in Brazil continues to grow: let's find out the numbers of this sector and what opportunities can be exploited for Italian companies that want to export to Brazil in this dedicated article.
With its 90 million hectares of fertile land and with about 13% of all the drinking water on the planet, Brazil is the largest source of food resources on the planet. The country is known to be the largest exporter of coffee, soybeans, meat, and orange juice, and the sector corresponds to 37% of Brazil's exports and 27% of gross domestic product; forecasts say the sector will grow by 40% in the next 10 years.
These impressive numbers have naturally attracted and will continue to attract the attention of foreign investors especially in those industries that are corollary to the agricultural industry.
Particular attention should be paid to agricultural mechanics, which in addition to tractors includes harvesting machines, threshing machines, sprayers, but also machines for processing products. It is obvious to think that in order to fuel the expected growth Brazil will need to improve product quantity and quality, and this can only be achieved by implementing those technological advances that are characteristic of the most advanced agricultures such as European and U.S. agriculture.
In particular, it is interesting to note that in the agricultural machinery sector, Abimaq (an association that groups manufacturers of agricultural machinery) estimated the total value of the sector at about 3.8 billion euros in 2011, an increase of 10% over the previous year, compared with an increase in the country's GDP of about 7.8%.
