Agribusiness in Brazil continues to grow: let's discover the numbers of this sector and what opportunities can be exploited by Italian companies wanting to export to Brazil in this dedicated article.
With its 90 million hectares of fertile land and approximately 13% of the world’s total supply of drinking water, Brazil is the world’s largest source of food resources. The country is known to be the largest exporter of coffee, soybeans, meat, and orange juice, and the sector accounts for 37% of Brazilian exports and 27% of gross domestic product; forecasts indicate that the sector will grow by 40% over the next 10 years.
These impressive numbers have and will continue to attract the attention of foreign investors, especially in industries that support the agricultural industry.
Agricultural machinery deserves particular attention. In addition to tractors, this includes harvesting machines, threshers, sprayers, and also machines for product processing. It is obvious to consider that to support the projected growth, Brazil will need to improve the quantity and quality of its products. This can only be achieved by implementing those technological advancements characteristic of more advanced agricultural sectors, such as those in Europe and the United States.
It is particularly interesting to note that in the agricultural machinery sector, Abimaq (an association representing agricultural machinery manufacturers) estimated the sector’s total value at approximately 3.8 billion euros in 2011, representing a 101% increase compared to the previous year, while the country’s GDP grew by approximately 7.81%.
