European Union: where to sell Italian products?

Where to sell in the European Union? Find out which countries to expand your Made in Italy in the European Union with the support of Octagona.

Europe, as is well known, is going through a very delicate period. However, the current economic situation, in general, is improving and forecasts indicate an even more sustained recovery for 2016: in fact, several EU countries will continue to grow.

In this context, our companies must therefore seize the new opportunities arising from European Union countries with which there are already established economic relations and from emerging Eastern countries, which are registering significant growth rates: this applies particularly today, as Italian exports are expanding strongly and the EU is driving this growth (our exports to the region increased by almost four percentage points in 2014 compared to 2013).

But which European markets are the most interesting to sell in?

Let's start with the countries of Eastern Europe: according to a very recent report released by SACE, an important increase in our exports will occur in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Romania in the three-year period 2016-2018. Specifically, the most interesting opportunities are in:

– Czech Republic: textiles and clothing; consumer goods;
– Poland: instrumental mechanics; infrastructure; food & beverage; food processing; electrical equipment;
– Slovakia: metals.

Compared to Western European countries, Italy already boasts stable and long-lasting economic relations. Considering that we export goods worth approximately 197 billion USD to the EU-15 countries alone, out of a total of 528 billion USD globally, the specific weight of this region is easily understood. Our exports will grow in all these countries, and the best business opportunities will concern:

Belgium: chemical industry;
- United Kingdom: means of transport; instrumental mechanics;
– Spain: transport, components, and accessories;
– Germany: rubber and plastic;
– France: food & beverage;
– Netherlands: food & beverage.

According to the “Export Opportunity Index” developed by SACE, these are the EU countries with the highest potential for "Made in Italy.".
