But without Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certification many products May not be placed on the market: compliance with quality and safety standards is an access requirement, not an optional extra. The regulations affect an expanding perimeter involving, as appropriate, industrial machinery (e.g., machine tools, packaging, rubber-plastics, ceramics/marble), electrical/electronic appliances, components and sub-assemblies and other commodity families subject to specific schemes (e.g. ISI/FMCS, CRS/Registration).
