What is BIS certification for India?

BIS certification is a Mandatory conformity certification required in India for certain products, in order to ensure they comply with the technical and safety standards established by the Country. The certification is issued by Bureau of Indian Standards, the national standardization body of India.  

The BIS certification has three main objectives: 

• Ensure product safety and quality 
• Protect consumers 
• Regulating the import of products into India 

For many categories of goods, without BIS certification, it is not possible to import or sell the product in the Indian market.
