A great new challenge for Octagona, which has been appointed Knowledge Partner by the Indian Embassy in Italy to implement the Access India Initiative Program, a project that aims to open the Subcontinent's market to Italian SMEs.
“Make in India” is a campaign launched in 2014 by PM Modi, inviting companies from around the world to establish their manufactures in India. The campaign promotes investment in 25 strategic sectors for the national economy. Modi intends to drive development toward a model geared toward high-intensity manufacturing and intends to transform the Indian economy into a global industrial center. Indeed, India is becoming a major global destination for manufacturing. The Subcontinent now stands as the only truly attractive destination in the Asian quadrant, in terms of volume and growth.
India today presents impressive elements regarding opportunities for Italian companies: second most populous market and fifth largest economy in the world, third largest global economy in purchasing power parity, significant growth rate and among the highest among major economies, implementation of reforms in recent years that have helped make the country increasingly business friendly (India has recovered 14 positions in the raking of the'ease of doing business” 2020). Considering that growth will continue to travel at a fast pace in the coming years and its weight in the world is set to increase, India can be defined as the market of the future. Italian know-how and technologies can prove to be extremely attractive to accompany the Indian business fabric on its extraordinary growth path. From these premises and the MAKE IN INDIA program, Access India Initiative (AII) was born.
The Indian Embassy in Rome, as part of “Make in India,” has launched the “Access India Initiative” (AII) Strategic Program. AII has three goals:
- Helping Italian companies interested in India understand the business opportunities present;
- Support companies on the path to market access;
- To grow and consolidate the business of Italian companies in India through a concrete, structured project with a long-term perspective.
For the implementation of Access India Initiative, the Embassy has selected Octagona as Knowledge Partner, which will be responsible for the implementation and operational management of the project, in coordination with the Embassy itself.
About 30 companies will be involved in the project and will be divided into 2 groups. The first is represented by Small and Medium Enterprises that want to open production presences: this group will have full and complete access to the program. On the other hand, the second group consists of Small and Medium Enterprises that are already engaged in import and export operations with India. In this case, only those companies with a long-term strategic vision and aiming at the prospective creation of a production presidium will have access to the program. The assessment will be made on a case-by-case basis.
