BIS Certification required to export machinery to India

India issued the new OMNIBUS Technical Regulation (OTR), legislation that marks a Significant change in the regulatory framework for placing industrial machinery and equipment on the market, which will come into effect on 28 August 2025.

In particular, we refer to Annex 1 of the measure, which contains the list of customs codes for the machinery involved: the whole world of machine tools is involved, as well as packaging machinery and machinery for rubber and plastics, ceramics and marble, construction and earthmoving machinery, and many other sectors, as well as many other equipment, including normal machinery.

 

From the collaboration with FEDERMACCHINE the webinar "BIS Certification mandatory to be able to export machinery to India', on the day of Thursday 15 May from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

This webinar, reserved for member companies of one of Federmacchine's member associations, is designed to provide a clear and up-to-date overview of the provisions contained in the OTR 2024, with a specific focus on the practical implications for European producers and exporters, starting with theobligation to register on the dedicated Indian website requesting the issue of the BIS (Bureau Indian Standard) certificate for all the types of machines exported to Indiaappointing in advance a natural person on site who performs the function of an Authorised On-site Representative (AIR) for the exporting company.

We will analyse the technical and documentary requirements, i risks related to non-compliance and the strategies to adapt effectively to the new regulatory environment.
