India is increasingly strategic for Italian manufacturing. But without Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certification many products May not be placed on the market: compliance with quality and safety standards is an access requirement, not an optional extra. The regulations affect an expanding perimeter involving, as appropriate, industrial machinery (e.g., machine tools, packaging, rubber-plastics, ceramics/marble), electrical/electronic appliances, components and sub-assemblies and other commodity families subject to specific schemes (e.g. ISI/FMCS, CRS/Registration).

• BIS schemes, key differences between the different certification schemes: when they apply and what they entail in terms of testing, marking and labeling. 

• Roles and responsibilities: why is it mandatory to appoint a Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) and how to select it to avoid blockages or delays. 

• Path of operation: document collection, laboratory testing, application process, certificate issuance, and recurring errors to avoid (differences from international standards, documentary formalities, stamps).
