Indian Embassy appoints Octagona Knowledge Partner and launches Access India Initiative Program.

Relations between Italy and India can now be considered positive. Both Rome and New Delhi have inaugurated a new phase of collaboration: just on the occasion of the recent meeting occurred in New York between the respective premiers of the two countries, Count and Modi, the latter called for a Strengthening bilateral and trade relations And invited Italian companies, particularly SMEs, to take into consideration the great opportunities offered by the Subcontinent, especially with a view to productive investment.

It is really Based on these premises that the strategic program was born Access India Initiative (AII) promoted by the’Indian Embassy in Rome. The project, which is part of the larger national Make in India program launched by the government several years ago, aims to Impart significant acceleration to business and economic-commercial development between Italy and India, especially in view of one important aspect: India needs technology, know-how and skills, but an approach to this market can be complex for an industrial fabric such as Italy's, which consists 99% of micro-SMEs. The AII program therefore aims to support Italian companies to better understand the characteristics of the Indian market and to provide them with an innovative platform that can assist them in their first steps of accessing. The initiative, designed from a long-term perspective, is aimed at. attracting inward investment e targets both companies that want to open production presences, Both to SMEs already engaged in import-export transactions with India but who think in a broader time horizon.

For the management and implementation of the entire program, the Embassy has decided to rely on Octagona, a company that deals with business internationalization and a profound connoisseur of the Indian market and its dynamics, thanks to 17 years of consolidated experience in the country and the presence of 3 direct offices (New Delhi, Bangalore and Pune) and 8 partner offices (Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Ludhiana, Chandighar, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Dewas), in which the local team operates.

The project, which will last until at least September 30, 2020, provides The implementation of the following steps:

  • Identification and selection of an approximate number of 50 Italian SMEs interested or willing to initiate production-type investments in India, with a strategic and long-term vision;
  • definition of a work plan For each individual company involved;
  • assistance and operational support to selected companiesatand, in order to start a path of growth in the Indian market of specific and thematic workshops for companies to transfer skills and knowledge useful to do business in India and better understand the local context;
  • creation of a dedicated communication channel To facilitate contacts with SMEs participating in the project.

Octagona will then be in charge of implementing the entire project management phase, coordinating activities between Embassy and companies involved: in this regard, and with the aim of chronologically monitoring the development of the program and the succession and implementation of the different steps, periodic update, planning and control meetings are scheduled between the Knowledge Partner itself and the institution promoting the initiative.
