In order to consolidate its technical and engineering expertise, Escorts Group, India's leading manufacturer of construction machinery, agricultural machinery and also operating in the automotive and railway sectors, has begun a partnership with Locatelli Crane, an Italian crane manufacturer.
This partnership will enable Escorts Group to broaden its product portfolio in the construction machinery market by locally producing inclined cranes with 360-degree rotation and a capacity of 60 to 80 tons. This type of product is most widely used in handling and transporting material for projects related to large infrastructure, such as the construction of power plants, subways, and bridges. Production will begin in one and a half years.
According to Nikhil Nanda, joint managing director of the company, this is an ambitious operation and Escorts intends to act with a medium- to long-term perspective, as demand for the construction machinery sector in India is experiencing a sharp increase. The Faridabad-based company has also planned to merge its subsidiaries.
Nanda himself also said that Escorts is looking for land the size of 14 hectares in order to expand production capacity over the next four years, and that the partnership with Locatelli is only the first of several technical collaborations that will take place in the future, for the construction machinery and agricultural machinery sectors.
