Escorts Group enters into business with Locatelli Crane

In order to consolidate its technical and engineering skills, Escorts Group, a leading Indian manufacturer of construction machinery, agricultural machinery and also operating in the automotive and railway sectors, has started a collaboration with Locatelli Crane, an Italian crane manufacturer.

This partnership will allow Escorts Group to expand its product portfolio in the construction machinery market, locally producing inclined cranes with a 360 degree rotation and a capacity of 60 – 80 tons: this type of product is mostly used in handling and transport of material for major infrastructure projects, such as the construction of power plants, subways and bridges. Production will start in a year and a half.

According to what reported by Nikhil Nanda, Joint Managing director of the company, this is an ambitious operation and Escorts intends to act with a medium-long term perspective, since the demand for the construction machinery sector in India is experiencing a sharp increase. The Faridabad-based firm has also planned a merger plan of its subsidiaries.

Nanda himself also stated that Escorts is looking for a land the size of 14 hectares, in order to be able to expand production capacity in the next four years, and that the partnership with Locatelli is only the first of several technical collaborations that will take place in the future , for the construction machinery and agricultural machinery sectors.
