BorgWarner opens a manufacturing plant in India

La BorgWarner Inc.., a U.S.-based manufacturer of automotive components and systems, has installed a new manufacturing facility at Sipcot Industrial Park in Sriperambadur, near Chennai, India. The plant will have an annual capacity of 300,000 assemblies.

The company has sales of more than $4 billion and is currently present in 18 countries. Its venture into India began in 2001, when it started operations through its subsidiary Borgwarner Cooling Systems India. Later, in 2004, the company installed a manufacturing facility ad interim in Aynambakkam (Chennai).

In India the company supplies customers such as Tata Motors, Tata Cummins, M & M, ALL, Force Motors, Volvo, Eicher, Asia Motor Works and Kirloskar.
