Somany Ceramics, the well-known Indian tile manufacturer, has decided to invest 6.5 million euros in its plant in Kessar, Haryana, and to build a greenfield project in Gujarat. These initiatives are part of the company's plan to become a 95-million-euro entity by 2011-12. Somany plans to increase production capacity from the current 30,000 m2 to 37,500 m2 per day by April 2010.
The ceramics industry is growing strongly in India, and the investments approved by Somany Ceramics are yet another demonstration of the hidden potential of this sector, and of a high-growth country like India. Italian companies involved in ceramics, and especially companies from Emilia-Romagna given the presence of an important ceramics hub in Sassuolo, can find great opportunities to increase their turnovers and profits from abroad.
Somany Ceramics is in fact only the latest example of an innovative company ready to lead other Indian and international companies on Indian soil.
