Technology transfer in India: an effective model of internationalization

This form of collaboration therefore implies a transfer of experience and information from the Italian company to the Indian one, avoiding the creation of a separate legal entity. Technology transfer can simplify the internationalization process of companies in the short term, if however inserted into a long-term strategy.

In fact, know-how transfer actions allow initial access to the market without significant investments and an initial development of the brand, and can serve as a basis for a subsequent phase of direct investment in the target country.

Indian companies have an extremely positive perception of “Made in Italy” efficiency and know-how and are constantly looking for new technologies. This certainly represents a strength of technology transfer, especially in relation to the entry into the Indian market by Italian companies.

Examples of technology transfer in India

Example of success branded Octagona is the case of Moss Ltd, a company from Reggio Emilia that has been designing and manufacturing automatic machines for the various types of printing applied to packaging since 1967. The company has relied on Octagona to activate a direct presence on the Indian territory, giving rise to a technology transfer agreement with a partner that will allow the production of machines on site, thus increasing competitiveness and lowering costs in the country without renouncing the product quality.

Another example can be that of MecVel srl, a company that deals with the production and marketing of linear actuators and mechanical jacks: through Octagona India, all the phases of preparation of the necessary documentation, bureaucratic procedures and registration of licenses and patents have been managed in order to be able to operate in peace in India.
